Please join us in welcoming two new E&E faculty members, Dr. Luis Bettencourt and Dr. Matthias Steinrücken.
In addition to his recent appointment as Pritzker Director of the Mansueto Institute of Urban Innovation, Dr. Bettencourt will also serve as a faculty member of E&E starting July 1, 2017. He comes to the University from the Santa Fe Institute, where he served as Professor of Complex Systems. Dr. Bettencourt holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the Imperial College at the University of London.
Dr. Steinrücken researches computational and statistical methods for population genomics analysis to investigate the forces underlying genetic variation. He will soon be leaving his current position as Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He will arrive on September 1, 2017. Dr. Steinrücken holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Technische Universität Berlin.
